Play is vital to the health and well being of children (and adults too!). Play encourages children and adults to interact socially and be physically active. This site aims to provide parents, carers, and anyone involved with children, with information to help them find local playgrounds and play activities. We want to see our outdoor community playspaces used more and the quality of these playspaces improved for the whole community to enjoy.

The Play Illawarra website covers the local government areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama and is a project co-ordinated by Healthy Cities Illawarra - a not for profit, community organisation committed to the continued improvement of the health, environment and quality of life of the Illawarra community.

Wollongong City Council, Shellharbour City Council and Kiama Municipal Council are also partners and major contributors to the Play Illawarra website project.
